Meet the team
CEW is the brainchild of Cathy White. For years she had her eyes set on building an agency that truly understands scaling tech companies and at the end of 2016 CEW was born. We may be small (for now) but we're ambitious. Your success is our success!
Founder and Director
Cathy specialises in working with startups and the organisations that support them, with a real passion for working with growing companies where she can make an impact to their business.
She was previously Head of Communications for Tech City UK, an organisation to accelerate the growth of digital startups and skills in the UK, and Communications and Marketing Manager for Seedcamp, the first round fund that invests in pre-seed and seed stage tech startups. In her role at Seedcamp she worked with its portfolio, advising early-stage companies on their own marketing and PR activity. Ahead of Seedcamp, she was Senior Account Manager on the Start-ups and Fast Growth team of Albion Drive and was recognised for her work in the agency by PR Week in June 2014, when she appeared as a ‘Rising Star’ of the industry.
She has worked on international campaigns for US and European companies, in a range of sectors across the tech space, including some of Europe's leading startups and VC’s, such as Index Ventures, Draper Esprit (DFJ Esprit), Transferwise, Etsy, Brainient, Moo.com and Klarna. Prior to joining Albion Drive, Cathy worked at Sparkpr a Silicon Valley agency, where she played a key role in the London office operation, as day-to-day contact and acting “MD” during a change in management.
Outside of her day-to-day, she is an organiser for GeekGirl Meetup UK, highlighting female role models in the tech industry, providing women with events to learn, connect and be mentored. Cathy is also the host of GeekGirlMeets, a podcast series that interviews women in technology in order to inspire others.
Renata is a professional journalist with experience in print, online and multimedia platforms, having worked for international media outlets such as the BBC and Deutsche Welle. She loves everything content-related and is your go-to person for any type of creative work, being a certified Design Thinker by the d.school at the University Potsdam, in Germany. On the PR side of things, she has worked for companies both in the private and in the public sector. On her free time, she is either reading or making collages.
Doug trained as an industrial designer from Northumbria University and is a tech, travel and sports nerd. He is to be found floating around startup events in London or nipping north to his spiritual home. His passions, aside from work (of course), are cars and bikes (powered and pedalled), music, tech, sports (he loves to watch and occasionally partake). Fun fact - he and his friends/colleagues won the 2013 Red Bull Soapbox race.
Over the last few years he has worked with all manners of tech clients, from helping grow mobile games startup Gram Games into a global force, worked with cryptocurrency platforms and gaming services, been listed as a top 100 influencer in the PropTech space (2017) and can be found tweeting political rants and horrible puns to his three (work in progress) followers on Twitter.
